Could 2014 Be Your Best Year Ever?

January marks the beginning of a new year. With the winter months looming ahead, this is a good time for new goals and fresh starts.  So I have a question for you:  What would it be like if 2014 became your best year ever in your job or career?

Let’s start with a quick assessment of how things are for you now. I’ve crafted this quiz based on the most common topics clients are struggling with when they first contact me for help and support. On a scale of 1-5, where 1 is strongly disagree and 5 is strongly agree, answer the following questions.    I want you to take the quiz the quickly, and listen to your gut, intuition, or heart.

  1. I’m content with the amount of money I earn, including benefits (e.g. insurance, paid time off, etc.).
  2. I feel balanced throughout my workweek, as if my job consumes the right amount of time and energy, while allowing me time and energy for other things that are important to me (family, faith, fun, etc.).
  3. I feel my work is meaningful to me.  My job allows me to fulfill my purpose, or one of my purposes, in this life.
  4. I am great at my job.  My work allows and encourages me to leverage my own personal strengths.  I am good at what I do.
  5. I enjoy my work.  I enjoy the job I do, the activities I perform, and the people I work with.  I feel lucky that I like my job.

This is a quiz where the total score is not as important as each individual score.  I urge you to evaluate every question that you score a 3 or lower.  If you only have 1 or 2 items that are scored low, then it is time for some changes in those areas.  If you score all 5 items at 3 or lower, it is time for a deep career transformation.

So how did you do?  What are your scores?

I believe everyone can create a career they love.  I believe you can love your job, and thrive in your career or business.  And I’d be delighted to help you make that happen in 2014.

If you were to make 2014 your best year ever for your career, what would that feel like?  And what needs to happen in your job or career to make it a reality for you?

I invite you to share your results below.

Client Stories

I was looking to make large changes in my life, both job and city.  I was a happy midwestern resident for nearly 30 years but wanted to see what life on a coast was like and get a dream job.  This was a tall order and going into it I thought I would have to make large compromises on parts of my dreams to get any of it.

I went to Lori to help me achieve these dreams.  It was the best decision I made.

She focused on two things right out of the gate:
  1. clarify my goals, both personal and professional
  2. get me to stop selling myself short

These twin achievements allowed me to approach my hunt with confidence, patience and focus.  My original dream job was to try and combine my technical joys with a personal one.  I enjoy large scale data processing with cutting edge tools, music and baseball.  Through the tools Lori taught me and helped me unearth in myself I got that gig that would have fallen into day dream territory before our work together.

And yeah, there's platinum records on the walls of my lobby and I have tons of data to process.
